The combination of good medication and slightly warmer weather means Faith is feeling a lot perkier. This morning she has been playing with the ball – hence the blurred action shots! It’s good to see her playful again, even if only in short bursts.

We didn’t go to Massey Vets because it became clear that it’s the pain making Faith so miserable, and the shaking etc is ‘just’ stress. The trip and tests would have only made things worse.

She’s having pain relief each morning, but is deeply suspicious about us tampering with her food. This morning I had to give up and just shove it down her throat, which got her shaking again…

She’s very clingy; poor Tony’s not doing much most days, just sitting round with an unhappy wee dog on his knee until the pain relief kicks in. She can’t jump at all so we lift her up and down off the sofa and bed, and she’s very grumpy with the cat if Goldie tries to play with her.

I’m determined to wait till the weather gets a little better, but really the double knee surgery can’t come soon enough.

Back to the vets again

On Friday Faith was even sicker so Rebecca asked Tony to take her up so she could check her over and discuss the blood tests. Only one is a bit “off” and that could indicate something with her liver – which is not the first time, but no one seems able to pinpoint the problem. As Rebecca said, she could also just be stressed because of her knees, but if there is something else we need to find it.

We have a tentative booking for Massey University Vets on Tuesday but will cancel if she seems a lot better, because nobody is sure it’s worth it at this point, and it is *very* expensive and a 4 hour round trip which is hard on Faith anyway.

All day Friday and most of yesterday she lay on the sheepskin rug, sleeping and shaking like a bowl of jelly. Early evening she seemed to perk up a bit and she’s not shaking today (Sunday) but she’s very flat and just sleeping all the time. She’s had her morning painkiller so we’ll see how she is once that has taken effect. Poor wee baby!

I had to go to the vets today because I have been very unhappy the last couple of days. Bec took bloods and we’ll get the results tomorrow but she suspects Faith’s system is stressed due to her knees. So perhaps the surgery can’t wait for more settled weather…

This morning the cat decided to chase faith and try to play bad games, which Faith usually enjoys, but Faith snapped and nearly took the cat’s leg off. To be honest, it won’t hurt Goldie to be told off for once.
